Lobos will play Lancaster Friday,
Nov. 21 in area round
...With
Longview's defeat of Jacksonville,
it will take on the Lancaster Tigers
7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at
John Kincaide
Stadium in Dallas.
The Lobos (9-2) will meet up with
the Tigers (7-4) for the first time
in school history. Lancaster
defeated Waco last Friday, 26-7.
Lancaster QB
Thedford Rhodes was 11-17 passed for
257 yards on 11-of-17 passing and
two touchdowns. Wide receiver Skylar
Scott caught six passing for 175
yards. RB Phillip Harvey ran
for 65 yards and a 32-yard touchdown
run.
Kincaide
Stadium is the 15,000 seat stadium
of Dallas Carter, Dallas Kimball and
Molina high schools. Longview
will be the home team. Tickets
will go on sale Tuesday morning at
the LISD Athletic Office on Hawkins
Parkway. The winner of
Longview/Lancaster will take on the
winner of Richardson Pearce (6-5)
and Dallas Carter (11-0), who play 6 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 21, at Texas Stadium.

Lobos wrap up fifth-straight district
title with win over Pine Tree ...The
Lobos defeated the Pirates 41-14,
wrapping up its fifth-straight
district title. The game,
marred with costly turnovers from
both sides, was a test for the Lobos
against a struggling Pine Tree
squad. Despite sloppy play on
several possessions, the Lobos still
managed to rack up 41 points and
stifle the Pirate offense.

All three Lobo teams win District
13-4A crown, go undefeated in
district ...The
Freshman, JV and Varsity Lobo teams
all have captured District 13-4A
championships for 2008. Not
only that, but all teams were
undefeated in district play.

Lobos come out on fire in second half,
wear down Mavs, 50-21 ..All
knotted up at 21, the Lobos came out
with a vengeance after halftime,
shutting out the Marshall Mavericks in
the second half. What seemed like
a game that just might come down to the
wire after the first half, the Lobos
(6-2, 4-0) shut down the Mavericks'
(5-2, 2-1) potent offense led by QB
Darius Jones, and pounded the ball with
RB Tyler McCray (right), who finished
the game with two TD's--one on an
impressive kickoff return in the first
quarter. Led by McCray, Longview
racked up 248 rushing yards, and QB
Aaron Johnson was 5 of 8 passing for for
106 yards. Longview sealed the game with
a 63-yard interception by Lamarcus
Howard in the fourth quarter, making the
final score 50-21.

Lobo standout Bobby Taylor
was on hand Friday night for the
pre-game ceremony to retire his No.
24. Taylor played for Notre
Dame and had a stellar 11-season
career in the NFL with the
Philadelphia Eagles and the Seattle
Seahawks. |
